Linked Clone Function (Concept)

Hi!

  I tried to clone a new virtual machine by using "create linked clone" function.  I have following question about this concept.

1)  If I update the original virtual machine, any changes will apply the "clone" vm?  For example, new file is created in original one, can I read it in the "clone" vm?

2)  If I backup the original virtual machine by copy and paste on the first of May, after the original vm is accidentally deleted at the end of May.  Then, I restore the backup.  Can it work?  If it work, any impact on the "clone" vm?

3)  Any technical documentation for the "clone virtual machine"?
