Hi Nielse
Thanks for your informations. You are right, there is no "BEST" hardware, it depens what are you doing with it. Im looking for the "state of art" in a enterprise banking envoirement.
Here are a few additions
The hardware i'm looking for is for a infrastructure for the next four years and budget is available
Server Type: Today we have Rack servers, our partner company has blade servers. space or power usage is not a problem, space and power is available. Is a blade-farm better to manage?
CPUs: Today our servers have AMD cpu's, we had not big problems with them, but now the chance is here to change to another vendor. I heard the performance of intel cpus today is better. I don't "need" hyperthreading, the question is, do i have a profit with it, in connection with vsphere.
Cores vs. Clockspeed: There are all kinds of VMs/application, we need a high performance in banking transaction applications.
NICs / HBAs: The storage is given, it is a fiber channel SAN (EMC) - perhabs a little bit of IP-storage (NFS or iSCSI) but SAN is the main storage
Flash Cards: No special need, because i don't know, where i have the profit with a flash card.
Thanks
